Editorial review policy
This page describes how brands end up on TopRoyalList, how our editorial scores are formed, and how we keep listings reasonably current.
Which brands we cover
We focus on online casino brands that hold a UK Gambling Commission licence and that accept UK players. We do not list grey-market or unlicensed sites. Our editorial line-up is small on purpose — we would rather cover fewer brands well than many briefly.
What we look at
- Offer clarity. Wagering requirements, eligible games, time limits and maximum cash-out, written in plain English near the offer itself.
- Terms transparency. Whether key restrictions are visible before sign-up rather than buried in a long T&Cs document.
- Payment options. Supported deposit and withdrawal methods, typical processing times and minimum/maximum amounts.
- Site usability. Lobby structure, search, filters, account settings and how the experience holds up on mobile.
- Game variety. The mix between slots, live tables, traditional table games and any specialist content.
- Safer-gambling tools. Visibility of deposit limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion routes within the account.
- Customer support. Channels available (live chat, email), opening hours and where complaint and ADR information is published.
How scores are formed
Each editorial score is on a five-point scale and reflects the reviewer's comparative view of the brand against the criteria above. Scores are not an official rating, regulator approval or a guarantee of any outcome. We avoid giving most brands the same score, and we do not list every site as "5/5".
How we write reviews
Editors sign up with a clean session, look at a representative selection of the lobby, read the relevant T&Cs and check support channels. Review notes are written in our own words, focused on points a reader can verify.
What we don't do
- We do not publish fabricated user testimonials or invented review counts.
- We do not claim that a brand is "officially the best".
- We do not promise winnings, guaranteed payouts, or risk-free play.
- We do not let commercial arrangements decide the score or the wording.
Updates and corrections
We re-check listed brands periodically and after any meaningful change we notice — for example a refreshed bonus structure, a new payment method or a shift in support channels. If you spot something that looks wrong or out of date, the contact page is the fastest way to flag it.
